Sharing & Saving¶

LIRNSearch has several tools to support the sharing and saving of results. It is very important to understand how to do this when working within your library database systems.

Link Encoder¶

In addition to the above, remember that earlier in this training you were introduced to the LIRN Link Encoder. This tool can be used to append the LIRN login proxy to links, including ones from LIRNSearch. There are special cases to use the Link Encoder and special cases to use the sharing or saving options in which we covered in the above video.

In what cases wouldn't you want to use the link encoder? Most commonly, you don't want to use the link encoder to add the proxy if you are creating a link for use in a citation. You also don't want to use it if you are sharing the link to someone outside of your institution. Please review the Link Encoder video to learn more.
